Overcoming Temptation Pt 3

Just as You used God's Word to resist temptations here on earth, help me combat my challenges with the strength of Scripture
- I speak The Word of the Lord to the temptation toward anger: "I will be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger doesn't lead to the goodness God desires." (James 1:19, personalized)
- God, grant me patience and understanding. Help me to be slow to offense and quick to believe the best about others. I want my actions to lead to the goodness You desire.
- I speak the Word of the Lord to the temptation towards selfish ambition: "Envy and selfish ambition lead to disorder and every evil practice." (James 3:16)
- God, guard my heart from selfish desires. I want to live a life that is a reflection of Your character. Help me to have a heart of humility and to resist thinking of myself above others.
- I speak the Word of The Lord to the temptation towards idolatry: "I will worship the Lord my God, and Him only will I serve." (Luke 4:8, personalized)
- God, I commit my worship to You alone. Help me recognize when I am placing people, possessions, or any other thing above You in my heart. You are the one true and living God who is worthy of every praise.
- I speak the Word of The Lord to the temptation towards doubt: "Everything is possible for the one who believes." (Mark 9:23 NIV)
- Lord, I believe that with You, nothing is impossible. Remind me in times of waiting that You are a promise-keeper. I trust that You see me. Your ways are higher than my ways and I believe what You say is true.
- I speak The Word of The Lord to the temptation towards gossip: "I won't let any unwholesome talk come out of my mouth. I'll speak what builds others up, benefiting those who listen." (Ephesians 4:29 NIV, personalized)
- Jesus, guide what comes out of my mouth. I know that, “the tongue has the power of life and death…” (Proverbs 18:21) I commit to speaking encouraging words and avoiding gossip.
